Position: Senior Electromechanical / Engineering Technician

Senior Electromechanical / Engineering Technician

Our client is seeking a Senior Electromechanical / Engineering Technician to support hands-on prototype build work in a fast-paced R&D environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong technician experience who thrives working directly with engineers as designs evolve, building everything from wire harnesses to full electromechanical systems. This is not a traditional production/manufacturing role - it's focused on one-off prototype builds ahead of the manufacturing handoff.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Build one-off engineering prototypes from drawings and instructions
  • Create and modify prototype wire/cable harnesses
  • Assemble small and large electromechanical subassemblies and full systems
  • Solder, wire, drill, fasten, rework, and troubleshoot
  • Work directly with engineers as designs change and evolve
  • Build and modify test fixtures and equipment
  • Support prototypes through to a successful handoff to manufacturing

Requirements:

  • Must-Haves:
    • 5-10 years of hands-on Electromechanical / Engineering Technician experience
    • Strong prototype/R&D build experience (not solely production manufacturing)
    • Experience building wire/cable harnesses, subassemblies, and complete electromechanical systems
    • Strong soldering, wiring, connectors, rework, and troubleshooting skills
    • Comfortable with hand and power tools (drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, soldering irons)
    • Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings/schematics
    • Comfortable with physical work and lifting 20+ lbs
    • Team player who is present, attentive, adaptable, and communicative
    • Industry-agnostic background welcome - no medical device experience required
  • Nice-to-Haves:
    • Experience with prototype-to-manufacturing handoff processes
Position Requirements
10+ Years work experience
