Job Purpose: This is a full-time on-site role for a Finance Director/Controller. The Finance Director/Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of the entire retirement community, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports, maintaining financial policies and procedures, leading and managing the Accounting and Finance team, and working with other teams to ensure the community's overall success in achieving its financial objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads and manages full Accounting cycle each month.
  • Develops accurate and timely financial statements and related management reporting.
  • Assists in the implementation of an annual calendar of reporting compliance dates.
  • Ensures that external financial reporting is timely and appropriate.
  • Adheres to accounting and reporting and internal control standards.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of accounting, payroll, fixed assets, and actuarial software.
  • Maintains the resident actuarial database.
  • Assists in the preparation of capital, labor, and operating budgets.
  • Reports variances from budgets, monthly operating reports and financial statements to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Responsible for the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports, annual unclaimed property filing and audit work papers.
  • Responsible for Medicare/Medicaid regulatory reporting requirements
  • Oversees the filing of Federal and State tax returns, payroll returns and unemployment returns.
  • Manages the year-end external audit and any other financial audits as needed
  • Manages the treasury function and serves as the primary banking administrator
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises Accountant (s), Payroll Coordinator A/R Manager and A/P Coordinator in general accounting, accounts payable, credit, billing and collection, schedule of charges, inventory and purchasing controls.
  • Provides financial and business support to the Chief Financial Officer
  • Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care.
  • Applies "5 Star" customer service approach in all aspects of job.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
  • Attends required in-services and training.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Full understanding of Medicare and Medicaid Cost reporting requirements
  • Leads and manages the Full Accounting Cycle each month
  • Strong Financial Planning and Reporting skills
  • Experience in creating and analyzing financial statements
  • Possess leadership qualities over a team of 7 associates (and growing)
  • Understands Endowment and Investment Reporting
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Finance principles and procedures
  • Ability to work effectively with other teams/departments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in working at a Healthcare facility or Retirement community is a plus
  • Familiar with UKG for payroll and Matrix Care for all financial products
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA and/or CPA certification is preferred
