Senior Systems Engineer / Technical Account Manager

An MSP client of ours is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer / Technical Account Manager to serve as the dedicated onsite engineer to support one of their healthcare clients in Bedford, MA. This person will own and support the client's day-to-day IT infrastructure while also serving as a trusted technical point of contact.

This is a very hands-on engineering position, not a vendor management or sales role. The ideal candidate comes directly from an MSP/managed services environment where they have personally administered and troubleshot client infrastructure.

The role is approximately 40% networking, 40% systems engineering, and 20% client support/relationship management.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Serve as the primary/sole onsite engineer supporting the client environment
• Own and administer infrastructure across networking, servers, cloud, Microsoft technologies and end-user systems
• Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, VLANs, routers and wireless access points
• Administer Forti Gate/Fortinet firewalls
• Support Azure/Entra , Active Directory and Intune
• Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint and One Drive
• Create and manage users, security groups, permissions, shared mailboxes and distribution lists
• Support onboarding/offboarding and identity/access management
• Create, administer and troubleshoot virtual machines
• Troubleshoot escalated infrastructure and connectivity issues
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures and client standards
• Advise the client on infrastructure improvements and technical best practices
• Coordinate with Meriplex resources when additional support is required
• Handle occasional L1/user-support issues when needed

Required Experience:

• 6–10+ years of Systems Engineering / Infrastructure experience
• Previous experience operating at a Senior Systems Engineer level
• Direct hands-on experience working for an MSP/Managed Service Provider supporting client environments
• Healthcare or senior living IT environment experience
• Strong networking background, including firewalls, switches, VLANs, routers and access points
• Hands-on firewall administration;
  Forti Gate/Fortinet strongly preferred
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience, ideally at the Global Admin level
• Azure/Entra
• Microsoft Intune
• Active Directory and Group Policy
• Strong virtualization/VM experience
• Teams, SharePoint and One Drive troubleshooting
• Ability to independently own and troubleshoot a client's infrastructure
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable being the only engineer onsite and working across both complex infrastructure issues and occasional basic support needs

Nice to Have:

• Sonic Wall/VPN experience
• Previous experience as a dedicated or embedded MSP engineer supporting a healthcare client
