Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

Summary:

The Buyer position is an integral member of the Supply Chain team, responsible for interacting with Persimmon suppliers to ensure material is procured in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner. The Buyer II will be responsible for the following activities:

• Purchase Order placement
• Purchase Order rescheduling or Expedites
• Push outs
• Supplier communication
• Open Order reports
• Interface to Production team to ensure a smooth flow of material to Production
• Interface to Receiving, Warehouse and other Persimmon functions
• Ownership of suppliers
• Project management for material flow improvements (Kanban, bulk issue, etc.)
• Support discrepant material process

Reports to:

Senior Supply Chain Manager

Direct Reports:
None

• Review MRP Workbench for assigned items
• Develop and implement plans for material flow improvements
• Collaborate with Commodity Managers on PO placement, PO expedites and Open Order Reports
• Work with suppliers to ensure ontime delivery and KPI OnTime Delivery
• Support Persimmon discrepant material process by working with suppliers to expedite material repair or rework
• Work with Production, Receiving and Warehouse teams to support ontime delivery of material
• Ability to travel to suppliers as required

• Solid understanding of an ERP system, especially MRP

• Experience purchasing a range of commodity types and a range of suppliers
• Noninventory items
• Inventory items
• Experience managing discrepant material with suppliers
• Experience with various material flow processes Kanban, bulk issue, etc.
• MS Office (Word, Excel)

Experience

Required:

3-5 years’ experience in a purchasing role

• Required approx. 20% travel to supplier locations which include local, domestic and international location
• Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds

Education Required:

4 year degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred

Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year. The actual pay offered will be determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, job-related knowledge, internal equity, and geographical location.
