Position Summary

The GMP Facilities Technician II performs preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of complex utility systems and GMP equipment within Ultragenyx GMP QC laboratory and manufacturing facilities. Equipment systems include HVAC, cold storage, compressed air, reverse osmosis (RO), water for injection (WFI), wastewater treatment, clean steam generation, fire detection/suppression, boilers, pumps/motors, and laboratory instruments such as bioreactors, filling machines, centrifuges, chromatography columns, autoclaves, and glass washers.

The role requires interpretation of drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications to troubleshoot and repair activities with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document all corrective and preventive maintenance activities on GMP facility equipment and systems in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Ensure GMP compliance for all maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and control issues on all building systems and equipment.
  • Maintain all facility equipment and systems at optimum performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Execute continuous improvement projects to improve departmental performance.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and resolve identified issues promptly while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for off‑hour facility emergencies.
  • Conduct weekend walk‑through duties as scheduled.
  • Maintain current quality and safety training certificates.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a GMP or regulated environment.
  • Experience in a GMP biopharma/biotech manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Computerized Maintenance Monitoring System (CMMS) software preferred.
  • Licensure in Wastewater Treatment, Refrigeration/Air Conditioning, Electrician, or Plumbing preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, make effective decisions, resolve technical issues, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Team‑player with ability to achieve results with colleagues.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required.
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Stand for extended periods with periodic stooping, bending, kneeling.
  • Climb ladders and stairs of various heights.
  • Lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Operate in temperature‑controlled environments (cold rooms).
  • Wear GxP gowning and protective clothing per GMP procedures.
  • Medical clearance required for respirator use.
Pay Range

Pay Range: $63,800 USD – $78,900 USD
