Our exceptional engineers and scientists collaborate to develop the world’s most powerful radar transmitters, pulsed power units for state-of-the-art processing in food, energy, and wastewater, and advanced R&D for national laboratories.
DTI seeks an Electro-Mechanical Technician to join its growing, high-technology business. Our work involves the design, fabrication, construction, installation and testing of specialized, high‑power electrical equipment for industrial and government applications. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to work in a challenging, innovative technical organization based in Bedford, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities- Build assemblies, wire and solder components using assembly drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and other documentation as required
- Skillfully fabricate (wind) a variety of custom-designed transformers
- Learn and understand basic assembly sequences and standards, discuss potential technical issues with supervisors
- Flexibility in different jobs having different sets of standards
- Light fabrication using power tools
- Occasional work required with transformer oil. Proper PPE and training will be provided.
- Provide support and adhere to company’s quality process
- High School graduate, technical high school preferred
- Up to five years’ related work experience
- Practical experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and sketches
- Experience with electrical wire harness, soldering and mechanical assembly
- Ability to lift / move assemblies of 20-40 pounds (e.g., from carts into racks)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to interact effectively with scientists, engineers, draftspersons and machinists
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word
- Experience winding transformers highly desirable
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Commensurate with experience
