Position: Engineering Technician - Saturday-Wednesday, 2 pm to 10:30 pm

Overview

Engineering Technician - Saturday-Wednesday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Based in Bedford, MA, the role supports operations and process engineering activities within the Metal Membrane team. Responsibilities include conducting validation runs, working with powders to fabricate parts, collecting data for gas filters, supporting Operators, and troubleshooting complex issues. The position applies technical knowledge to operate equipment, execute experiments, and support membrane development and surface modification processes.

Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment in manufacturing to support membrane development and address process-related issues.
  • Perform membrane characterization and performance testing according to defined procedures.
  • Troubleshoot routine process and equipment issues; resolve independently when appropriate and escalate complex issues with clear technical documentation.
  • Support engineering activities, including processes, validations, quality, and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist with new product development in collaboration with the NPI and R&D teams for pilot work.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure reliable operation.
  • Collect data to help determine root causes and implement necessary changes.
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for commonly performed tasks.
  • Ensure work complies with Entegris quality systems, safety standards, and EH&S requirements.
  • Participate in audits, safety reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  • Keep fixtures and equipment up to date, performing maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; proactively identify safety or housekeeping issues.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; technical education or trade school preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or an R&D environment.
  • Experience working safely with powdered metals, including handling, storage, and waste disposal.
  • Proven ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Strong attention to detail and systematic approach; ability to maintain accurate, thorough, and organized records.
  • Ability to generate reliable, high-quality data usable by engineers and project teams for decision-making.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; proactive status updates and observations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and related tools.
  • Willingness to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting projects and operations;
    Solid Works or minimal design work.
  • Familiarity with SAP for material management and/or ETQ or similar quality documentation systems.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve procedures, equipment reliability, safety, or operational efficiency; provide practical recommendations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills; ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and EH&S functions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and/or move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing support environment with appropriate PPE.
