Job Title: Calibration/Metrology Technician
Job DescriptionThe Calibration Technician is responsible for the calibration, verification, and maintenance of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) to ensure accurate, reliable, and traceable measurements that support manufacturing and quality control. The Calibration Technician calibrates measuring instruments such as pressure gauges, thermometers/temperature sensors, flow meters, multimeters, weighing scales, CMMs, and metrology tools, and maintains complete audit‑ready calibration records. The role works closely with Manufacturing Engineering and the Maintenance Team to ensure robust metrology practices on the shop floor.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Execute scheduled calibrations, verifications, and preventive maintenance for metrology equipment.
- Perform dimensional inspections and produce accurate, timely measurement reports.
- Set up and operate CMM/vision systems and precision tools per GD&T requirements.
- Maintain and manage calibration records using the GAGEtrak system, ensuring equipment traceability and accurate asset status.
- Schedule and track calibration activities to guarantee on‑time completion.
- Update equipment status, calibration results, and certification data in GAGEtrak.
- Generate and review calibration reports, labels, and certificates.
- Monitor due/overdue instruments and take corrective action.
- Ensure all equipment is traceable to NIST or industry standards within the system.
- Support audits by providing accurate documentation from GAGEtrak and technical explanations.
- Coordinate with production and engineering to minimize downtime during calibration cycles.
- Own and manage the GR&R schedule, ensuring all measurement systems are evaluated as required.
- Support MSA (Gage R&R, Bias, Linearity, Stability) and basic SPC data collection.
- Ensure weekly long‑term Stability (LTS) activities are performed by the production team on all metrology tools.
- Monitor completion and ensure RFC is followed; follow up on gaps and drive timely closure of any deviations identified during LTS.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to meet build readiness and product quality goals.
- Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical, Precision, Manufacturing Engineering, Metrology, or a related technical discipline.
- Hands‑on experience with dimensional measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, gauge blocks).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Understanding of calibration concepts (traceability, uncertainty basics, acceptance criteria).
- Proficiency in producing clear measurement reports and maintaining meticulous records.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership for accuracy, and disciplined work habits.
- Effective communication and teamwork across engineering, maintenance, and operations.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, calibration/asset systems, file management).
- Experience operating/programming CMMs.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and audit preparedness.
- Working knowledge of MSA, SPC, and capability indices (Cp/Cpk).
- Exposure to advanced metrology (surface roughness, form/contour).
- Ability to develop or improve measurement fixtures and probing strategies.
- Experience in semiconductor, precision machining, medical device, aerospace, or automotive manufacturing.
- Basic statistical/data analysis skills (trend analysis, Pareto, stability checks).
- Generous 401(K) plan with an impressive employer match.
- Excellent health, dental, and vision insurance packages.
- Flexible work schedule and 11 paid holidays a year.
- Paid time off (PTO) policy that empowers you to recharge.
- Education assistance to support your learning journey.
- Values‑driven culture with colleagues that rally around People, Accountability, Creativity and Excellence.
