Associate Scientist/Scientist - Primary Cell Platform, Immunology & Pharmacology

Bedford, MA

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

Our client, a global biopharmaceutical company focused on hematology, oncology, and immunology, is growing its early discovery organization and looking to add a motivated Associate Scientist or Scientist to the Primary Cell Platform team within Immunology & Pharmacology. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in immunology, immuno-oncology, and translational pharmacology. This is a bench-based role responsible for designing, developing, and running in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo pharmacology studies that generate data to guide decisions on early-stage therapeutic programs.

Final title will be based on the candidate's experience level.

About the Organization

The company is a global biopharmaceutical organization developing biologic therapeutics for hematology, oncology, and immunology indications. With a marketed product and a growing pipeline, it pairs scientific depth with newer technology platforms to tackle diseases with high unmet need. Its research arm focuses on next-generation therapeutics, working across translational science, protein engineering, and emerging therapeutic modalities, and applies deep oncology and immunology expertise to uncover and advance new therapeutic opportunities.

What

You'll Do
  • Design, build, optimize, and run in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo pharmacology studies to characterize target biology and assess therapeutic candidates.
  • Build functional immunology assays using human and murine primary immune cells as well as established cell lines.
  • Produce high-quality, reproducible data and keep thorough accurate experimental records to inform discovery-stage decisions and program progress.
  • Bring mechanistic understanding of immunology, immuno-oncology, and disease biology to interpret results, troubleshoot assays, and guide next steps.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with teams across biologics discovery, translational science, and bioinformatics/data science to move programs forward.
  • Work effectively with external CRO partners and communicate updates, analyses, risks, and proposed solutions promptly.
Scientific Communication
  • Present clear, data-backed findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to study plans, protocols, reports, presentations, and other scientific documentation.
What You'll Bring Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Immunology, Pharmacology, Oncology, Cell Biology, or a related field - title will be aligned with experience and seniority.
  • Hands-on background supporting immunology and/or oncology drug discovery programs.
  • At least 2 years of relevant research experience in academia and/or industry (an equivalent mix of education and experience will be considered).
  • Experience in hematologic malignancy drug discovery (MDS, MPN, AML, lymphoma, leukemia) is a plus but not required.
Technical Expertise
  • Hands-on work with human primary immune cell assays and translational pharmacology workflows.
  • Proficiency with multicolor flow cytometry (including FACS), ELISA, Meso Scale Discovery (MSD), and related immunological assay platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, run, and analyze in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo experiments assessing target biology, mechanism of action, and therapeutic activity.
  • Experience developing functional assays with human and murine primary immune cells and established cell lines.
Core Competencies
  • Strong bench, analytical, experimental design, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable working independently, juggling multiple priorities, and thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative research setting.
  • Clear written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and consistent adherence to approved procedures.
  • Curious, adaptable, and committed to ongoing learning.
