Overnight Security Supervisor
Location: Concord, MA
Shift: Monday-Friday, 11pm-7am
Pay Rate: $23.50/hour
The Security Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily security operations at a private school campus, ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors. This role provides leadership to on-site security personnel, maintains compliance with school policies and security procedures, responds to incidents, and serves as the primary liaison between school administration and the security team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead on-site security officers, ensuring professionalism, accountability, and adherence to post orders.
- Create staff schedules, manage shift coverage, approve timekeeping, and coordinate staffing needs.
- Conduct daily inspections of the campus to identify and address safety and security concerns.
- Monitor campus access control, visitor management, and vehicle traffic to maintain a secure environment.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, security incidents, medical situations, and alarms while coordinating with school administration and first responders when necessary.
- Investigate incidents involving students, staff, visitors, or property and prepare thorough, accurate incident reports.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the campus to deter criminal activity and provide assistance to the school community.
- Ensure security officers consistently deliver exceptional customer service while interacting with students, parents, faculty, and guests.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate security personnel on school-specific procedures, emergency response protocols, conflict de-escalation, and customer service expectations.
- Conduct routine performance observations and provide coaching to improve officer performance.
- Maintain accurate records, including incident reports, daily activity logs, key control logs, and equipment inventories.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including lockdowns, evacuations, shelter-in-place procedures, and other safety drills.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, school regulations, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Collaborate with school leadership to identify security improvements and recommend proactive safety initiatives.
- Inspect security equipment, cameras, access control systems, radios, and other technology to ensure proper functionality.
- Address employee concerns, resolve workplace issues, and escalate matters to management when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of security experience, with previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in a school, educational, healthcare, or campus environment is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic security management software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass required background checks and licensing requirements.
