Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Diesel Technician role based at Taylor & Lloyd, Inc. in Bedford, MA. The Diesel Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining medium and heavy-duty diesel trucks and engines in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards. The role involves collaborating with service advisors and other technicians, communicating clearly with customers and team members about needed repairs, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.
The Diesel Technician also helps maintain a clean, organized work area and adheres to all safety and environmental regulations. The position is paid hourly and the shop does not abide by a flat rate payment system.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for medium and heavy-duty diesel trucks.
- Experience with Preventive Maintenance programs, including inspections, fluid services, and scheduled component replacements.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic issues using tools, service manuals, and diagnostic equipment.
- Customer Service skills to communicate findings, explain repairs, and support a positive service experience.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, suspensions, drive trains, and truck electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
- Commitment to workplace safety practices and compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Prior experience as a diesel technician or heavy-duty truck mechanic; dealership experience is a plus.
- Relevant technical certification or vocational training in diesel technology or automotive repair preferred.
- Ability to lift and handle tools and components and to stand, bend, and work in shop conditions for extended periods.
