Position: Staff Technician, Civil/Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist 2

Staff Technician, Civil/Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist 2 – full‑time position located in Bedford, NH
. The role requires primarily field‑related technical duties with minimal supervision, 95% outside the office, frequent travel to job sites, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in various environmental conditions.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor geotechnical and environmental drilling and test pits.
  • Produce boring logs with soil and rock core classifications and site geology conditions.
  • Collect geotechnical and environmental soil samples.
  • Use geotechnical and environmental instrumentation and equipment.
  • Conduct site reconnaissance.
  • Work independently on job sites, prepare detailed notes, and take photographs to document procedures and observations.
  • Prepare daily/weekly field reports with figures, photographs, and summary tables.
  • Travel out of state to project sites periodically for several weeks.
  • Work on sites with asbestos present and wear Level C personal protective equipment, including Tyvek suits and respirators.
  • Perform low‑flow groundwater sampling.
  • Perform field tests on soil and rock.
  • Adhere to Site Specific Health and Safety Plans, including participation in safety briefings and audits.
  • Coordinate scheduling with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Monitor the execution of field and lab testing activities completed by subcontractors.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Coordinate with internal project team members on a daily basis.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE - MINIMUM

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and telephone communication skills, particularly written field notes.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel and Word capabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites and the office.
  • Familiarity with setting up and using GPS devices (plus).
  • Experience directing subcontractors (plus).
  • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training preferred but not required.
