Senior Transmission Line Engineer
- Hybrid
- Ideally located in Watertown, MA or Atlanta, GA. VHB’s growing Energy Evolution Practice supports the global transition to clean, sustainable energy solutions. This role supports substation, distribution line, sub-transmission line, and transmission line project design, permitting, access, and construction support. The position can be based anywhere in VHB’s footprint with a hybrid work arrangement; preference for Atlanta, GA or Watertown, MA offices.
- Support electric distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
- Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Design/assess overhead lines, including wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
- Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor and major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, and design specifications.
- Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Provide mentorship and training to entry level and junior engineering personnel.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with ability to think critically.
- Experience with GIS systems, PLS-CADD, Asset Management systems, and Microsoft Office products.
- B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a concentration in structures/power.
- Minimum 8 years of professional engineering experience within the utilities industry (Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience).
- Professional Engineering license expected.
- Familiar with NESC.
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $120,000-$181,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
