Unit Details
The surge unit is a 14‑bed unit specializing in cardiac/telemetry and medical/surgical patients. It is overseen by the CICU inpatient managers and the position is based in the CICU, primarily assigned to the Surge Unit with the expectation to float to other areas as needed. The surge RN works with a 1:4 patient ratio and an LNA 1:14.
About The JobThe surge nurse delivers comprehensive care to patients and families, ranging from basic to complex needs, utilizing the nursing process. The role creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patients and families and practices in accordance with the organization’s interprofessional practice model, the ANA’s Social Policy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and relevant specialty standards of practice.

Utilize current evidence and relevant national or specialty standards to guide practice, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate competent clinical practice using clinical decision‑making and critical‑thinking skills.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
- Ability to obtain a BLS qualification during orientation and maintain it throughout employment; ACLS is preferred.
$15,000 bonus eligible (paid in 3, 6, and 12 months). Nursing Student Loan Paydown Program up to $20,000.
Work ScheduleNight shift for the surge unit: 12‑hour shifts, 36 hours weekly with every other weekend requirements.
