We’re hiring a full‑time Rental Assistance Inspector for our Assisted Housing Division.

Role

As a Rental Assistance Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our clients have a clean and safe place that they can be proud to call home. In this role, you will:

  • Manage the inspection process for Housing Choice Voucher participants, helping ensure homes meet HUD requirements and remain safe, decent, and affordable for residents.
  • Coordinate and schedule inspections in a way that maximizes efficiency while providing excellent service to property owners, participants, and community partners.
  • Conduct initial, annual, and special inspections, including lead‑based paint assessments and clearance testing when required, and clearly communicate inspection results and next steps.
  • Evaluate units against HUD housing quality standards, identify deficiencies, and work closely with landlords and participants to resolve issues and bring properties into compliance.
  • Track failed inspections, conduct follow‑up visits, review extension requests, and make recommendations regarding payment suspensions, contract cancellations, or program terminations when compliance requirements are not met.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for program participants, helping them understand and meet their responsibilities while supporting successful participation in the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
Your Experience, Skills, And Education Should Include
  • Ability to understand and interpret federal regulations and state laws dealing with rental property.
  • Knowledge of Federal Fair Housing Laws.
  • Possess or able to obtain and maintain lead clearance certification.
  • At least five years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, on an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Starting Pay: $57,000 - $70,000, dependent on relevant experience
