In this role, you manage projects from concept through production release, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements while optimizing designs for efficiency, reliability, and cost.

Responsibilities Include

  • Lead mechanical and electrical system design from initial concept through final release, ensuring full compliance with codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Design and develop power distribution and control systems for low- and medium-voltage applications, including switch gear, switchboards, transfer switches, metering enclosures, and control panels.
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Select and specify appropriate electrical components for each project and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOM), releasing them to operations in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate closely with suppliers, internal engineering teams, and sales to support design requirements, clarify specifications, and resolve technical issues.
  • Optimize designs for efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and market competitiveness.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and performance.
  • Support customers during equipment start-up, providing troubleshooting and warranty-related technical assistance as needed.
  • Conduct formal design reviews, participate in prototype testing, and collaborate with test teams to validate designs and ensure they meet performance and safety criteria.
  • Maintain complete and accurate design documentation, including version control and as-built updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of UL, NEC, IEC, and related industry standards and electrical codes to all design activities.
  • Incorporate sheet metal design principles into enclosure and equipment layouts for power distribution and control products.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in electrical/mechanical design for low-or medium-voltage power distribution and control systems.
  • Electrical systems, components, and applicable industry standards (UL, NEC, IEC, etc.).
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and industry
  • Proficiency in developing 2D and 3D electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Sheet metal design experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience with additional design software such as Revit and Inventor.
  • Prior experience in electrical project management, including coordination of schedules, resources, and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with custom power distribution and control equipment for industrial, utility, commercial, and mission-critical facilities.
  • Ability to support start-up, testing, and warranty activities in the field or in a test environment.
  • Experience working in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment where design, fabrication, and assembly are performed in-house.
  • Interest in contributing to an expanding engineering team within a long-established electrical equipment manufacturer.
