Public Works Maintenance Worker - Water Supply; Utility

SUMMARY

This position will primarily assist the Utilities and Environmental functions of the Public Works Department by inspecting water meters, geolocating water meter locations, and confirming service line material. Additionally, the position will be rotated through the Public Works divisions of Water and Wastewater maintenance, Environmental, Engineering, Streets, Stormwater, and Traffic to gain experience and understanding of their functions.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

High school diploma/GED. Some related experience and/or training preferred.

• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Ability to obtain a Texas B Commercial Driver's License within one year of hire.
• Ability to obtain a Work Zone Traffic Control certification within one year of hire.

• A basic knowledge of computer systems and ESRI GIS applications.
• A basic knowledge of hand tools and small machinery.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is not regularly exposed to risk of electric shock.
