Equity Staffing Group is seeking an experienced and patient-focused Medical Assistant to support a busy clinical practice in Bedford, TX. This position provides hands-on patient care, assists providers with clinical procedures, performs basic diagnostic testing, and helps ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting, and has strong communication and customer service skills.
Phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.
- Room patients according to established policies and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record.
- Perform duties within the established scope of practice for a Medical Assistant.
- Collect blood specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection
. - Perform basic specimen collection using approved noninvasive techniques.
- Perform EKGs and operate diagnostic equipment as directed; interpretation of results is not required.
- Administer approved non-intravenous medications.
- Remove staples from superficial wounds and assist with wound dressing changes and cultures.
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize medical equipment using an autoclave.
- Perform routine quality-control checks on clinical equipment.
- Organize, clean, and stock examination and treatment rooms.
- Follow standard infection-control procedures and precautions.
- Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians and established company policies.
- Conduct telephone and in-person intake screenings to gather patient information.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient-care documentation.
- Protect patient confidentiality and provide courteous, professional service.
- Follow Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO) and established clinical procedures.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification
, or ability to obtain certification within 180 days of employment. - Current BLS certification for healthcare providers
, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. - Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic computer literacy with intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
. - Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to meet required occupational health and immunization documentation requirements.
- 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience.
- Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
. - Previous experience working in a fast-paced outpatient or clinical environment.
