Mobile Field Service Technician – Recycling Machinery

The Opportunity

A well-established global engineering business within the recycling and waste processing sector is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join its UK service team.

This is a hands-on role supporting customers across the UK, focusing on maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of mobile hydraulic shredding and material processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair mobile hydraulic shredding equipment
• Carry out preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown support
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
• Interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Maintain service documentation and technical reports
• Provide professional on-site customer support
• Travel nationally to customer sites (some overnight stays required)

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years’ experience servicing heavy plant, recycling equipment, or hydraulic machinery
• Strong hydraulic diagnostics and mechanical repair skills
• Basic electrical troubleshooting capability (12V/24V systems)
• Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills

Desirable (not essential):

• Experience with shredders, recycling or material processing equipment
• Hydraulic certification or fluid power training
• Experience with HGV or mobile plant systems
