Job Title:

AVP/VP, Private Trust Business Development Manager, Private Banking, Consumer Banking Group

Job Responsibilities:

As a Private Trust Business Development Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting Trust Managers in the administration and management of a diverse portfolio of private trust structures, including family offices, private trust companies, and US foreign grantor trusts. Your responsibilities include analyzing trust documents for legal, tax, administrative, and investment issues, and coordinating the delivery of services. You will make recommendations on how the Trustee should exercise discretionary powers and apply comprehensive knowledge of trust law and administration to client‑specific planning and administration exercises.

Working with Group Legal & Compliance, external lawyers, and professional advisors, you will resolve tax and legal issues. You will address inquiries from beneficiaries, power holders, protectors, and their advisors. Ensuring consistent application of Trustee and Bank policies and procedures, and representing these at relevant governance and oversight committees, is crucial.

You will also partner with clients' other advisors, such as attorneys and accountants. In terms of new business acceptance, you will manage inquiries from Wealth Planners and Relationship Managers regarding trust structures, maintain and update onboarding documents, review legal and tax opinions, and liaise with Wealth Planners and professional advisors on proposed amendments. You will highlight key points of trust structures and ensure proper execution and administration.

Maintaining a Register of Pipelines and preparing updates and reports on prospect progress to management is also part of your role. You will attend new trust handover meetings to clarify customized structures and highlight any special administration or accounting requirements. For trust administration support, you will maintain templates, draft amendments, and provide guidance on structures that require special handling for legal, regulatory, accounting, or tax matters.

You will liaise with Legal & Compliance, external lawyers, and provide guidance on necessary actions for complaints, litigation, and disputes. Coordinating ad‑hoc projects to remediate structures due to changes in legal, regulatory, and tax landscapes, and supporting governance functions such as board meetings and sub‑committee meetings are also part of your responsibilities. As a knowledge center, you will monitor and analyze changes in legal, regulatory, and tax environments impacting trust structures and administration.

Liaising with Group Legal & Compliance and external advisors to obtain professional advice, and finalizing action steps for new business and existing trusts is key. Training and educating Trust Managers and Trust Operations on these changes and maintaining a library of technical resources are also part of your duties.

Education and Experience Information:

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Law. A minimum of 4 to 8 years of post‑qualification experience is required, either with law firms specializing in private wealth or trust practice or with financial institutions engaged in wealth management or private banking. Strong drafting and analytical skills, organizational skills, and motivation are essential.

Candidates should have strong risk awareness and sound risk management skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is important, along with the confidence to deal with all levels of management within the bank. Candidates must demonstrate a clear commercial application of legal and regulatory knowledge, balancing legal or regulatory risks against commercial needs.

The company offers a competitive salary and benefits package, along with the professional advantages of a dynamic environment that supports your development and recognizes your achievements.
