Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin. Lakeway is ideally situated on the south shore of Lake Travis in the scenic Texas Hill Country. Lakeway is a resort community with golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a 65-mile long lake, and extensive parkland and greenbelts. Baylor Scott & White Health Lakeway is a 121-bed, full-service hospital. The Medical Center is a certified primary stroke center and a certified chest pain center.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must live within 40 minutes from the hospital
  • Shift: Thu / Fri / Sat 7 pm – 7 am
  • Some call coverage — normally 3 days a month, typically during weekdays

Job Summary

The Multimodality Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs imaging in two or more disciplines. At least 25% of their work focuses on advanced areas like CT, MR, Nuc Med, or IR. They work with ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.

Essential Functions Of

The Role
  • Performs high-quality multimodality procedures according to exam protocol promptly. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards.
  • Demonstrates expertise in radiation dose reference levels and monitoring. Takes action if the estimated dose exceeds set levels, including patient follow-up as needed.
  • Demonstrates and uses iSTAT point-of-care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
  • Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies service needs and ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport and communicates clearly with patients and families about the test. Assesses the patient’s ability to tolerate the exam.
  • Prepares the patient and area for the procedure. Positions the patient, uses immobilization devices, and moves equipment into position. Applies appropriate settings and exposure factors.
  • Maintains safety by following infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management. Maintains supplies inventory. Screens individuals entering the department according to approved policies.
  • Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, and policies/procedures.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems according to department policies.
