  • Status:
    Full-time, 36 hrs per week
  • Shift: Night Shift (7 pm - 7 am)
  • Patient Ratio: 4:1
  • Level: Level III (operates as Level IV in practice; 24/7 neurosurgeon on call)
About the Emergency Department

The 23‑bed Emergency Department is equipped to treat critical and life‑threatening conditions in patients of all ages and provides a 24‑hour multidisciplinary team with access to specialists.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members; assess and document learning needs regularly
  • Work with colleagues to create care plans, delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly

    Use problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff; recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, contribute to peers' development, and demonstrate community service commitment
Key Success Factors
  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines; understanding of hospital procedures and rules
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Positive social skills for interactions with a diverse range of parties
  • Excellent problem‑solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited program
  • Specialized field of study in nursing
  • RN license
  • BLS certification (or obtain within 30 days of starting)
