General Description
The Dean of Learning and Assessment reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Academics (VCA) and serves on the academic leadership team. The role requires experience and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission, best practices in teaching and student learning, assessment of student learning, institutional and program accreditation, shared governance, curriculum development, faculty and staff support and development, enrollment management, continuous quality improvement, innovation, technology, and data-driven decision making.
The Dean must also demonstrate a commitment to communication, collaboration, and transparency.
- Support academic operations and programming at all ASU-Beebe campuses, traveling to the four campuses as required.
- Provide leadership in assessment of student learning, measurement of learning outcomes at course, program, and institutional levels, and strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with the Arkansas Division of Higher Education, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and all other institutional and program accreditations.
- Support faculty development in the science of teaching and learning (SoTL), fostering collaborative, innovative strategies and data‑driven student learning frameworks covering retention, persistence, completion, transfer, and employment.
- Coordinate curriculum proposals, update and publish materials such as the college catalog, faculty handbook, academic calendar, and standard operating procedures, and lead program grant writing, implementation, and reporting initiatives.
- Manage transfer and other articulation agreements.
- Lead and support the college’s Distance Education, Library, and Early College staff and initiatives.
- Master’s degree in a discipline offered by the college.
- Three years of progressive academic leadership experience.
- Three years of community college teaching experience.
- Experience with national institutional and program accreditation.
- Terminal degree (PhD, EdD) in a discipline offered by the college.
- Four years of progressive academic leadership experience, including program coordinator, director, chair, or dean.
- Four years of community college teaching experience.
- Additional experience with national institutional and program accreditation.
$76,000 – $80,000 per year.
