Cross Road Engineers, PC is looking to expand its team. We are seeking a Senior Transportation CADD Technician/Designer to utilize Autodesk design software to independently produce high‑quality engineering documents for transportation-focused projects. This position is ideal for a candidate with proven experience in roadway, site, and civil infrastructure design who can contribute immediately to active projects and support developing CADD technicians.
SeniorCADD Technician/Designer Responsibilities and Duties
- Produce advanced, detailed drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D for transportation and civil infrastructure projects.
- Interpret and implement complex design mark‑ups, engineering calculations, and technical specifications with minimal supervision.
- Apply and ensure adherence to Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) standards, local municipality requirements, and project-specific criteria.
- Prepare and update detailed plan sheets, profiles, models, cross sections, quantities, and specifications for roadway, bridge, site development, and utility projects.
- Review, improve, and standardize CADD templates, styles, and workflows to increase efficiency and quality across the design team.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to solve design challenges and provide technical insight during project development.
- Mentor and provide guidance to developing CADD staff, offering training on Civil 3D best practices and project procedures.
- Manage personal workload effectively and provide accurate progress updates, proactively identifying potential schedule or production conflicts.
- Support quality control reviews and ensure all deliverables meet internal and external standards.
- Demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to continuous improvement of CADD production processes.
- High School diploma required; technical certification or associate degree in drafting/design or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with Autodesk Civil 3D (transportation or civil infrastructure project experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to independently produce plan sets for roadway, utility, or site projects in compliance with INDOT standards.
- Strong understanding of construction and engineering documents, including the ability to interpret plans, specifications, and survey data.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, with experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proficiency in basic mathematics, trigonometry, and geometry related to design calculations.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and general office software.
- Ability to work 8 hours per day in an office setting.
- Ability to work 40 or more hours per week – with the availability to work additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Commitment to staying current with evolving CADD tools, design standards, and industry best practices.
