Under general supervision, this position is responsible for coordinating foster care programs, adoption, and rescue. This Position may also assist in transfer of animal to approved transfer partners or alternative locations and performs other duties as required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Responsible for greeting and assisting shelter visitors, volunteers, and potential adopters in addition to helping with office duties including answering phones.
- Manages office duties when ACO Officers are away from the office.
- Performs administrative tasks, including filing and photocopying.
- Adoption coordinators work directly with the public and help interested individuals through the application, screening, and adoption process.
- Arrange get togethers between animals along with prospective adoptive families to determine if they like the other.
- Educate adoptive families for the specific needs of adopted animals and options for training them according to their inherent natures.
- Provide exceptional customer service for citizens wishing to reclaim, relinquish, or find their pets through the internet, email, phone, and in person.
- Adoption Manager will develop relationships with various rescue groups, especially foster based breed rescue groups and other organizations to help place a larger number of animals beyond in-house adoptions.
- Inspects commercial/hobby kennels and catteries for code compliance.
- Performs animal care duties such as feeding animals, monitoring sick and dangerous animals, segregating and isolating animals when necessary; detects disease or injury in animals and performs minor medical treatments on animals as necessary; assists the veterinarian with vaccinations and inspections of animals.
- Cleans and disinfects kennel areas, vehicles and equipment.
- Assists with front office duties such as receiving animals brought to the shelter by the public and releasing impounded animals to the public.
- Perform other work duties as assigned
- Regular Attendance in a workplace environment (part-time hours apply)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- 2 years’ experience in rescue coordination and animal behavior or equivalent combination of education and experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid TX Driver’s License or available alternate means of transportation.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation
