Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Quiet Lab, we're a team of high-achievers on a mission to create sleep products that help high achievers live longer and reach their full potential. Our long-term vision is to become the "Apple of Sleep" — and reduce the number of hours humans need to sleep through our technology, without tradeoffs. With monthly revenues in multiple seven figures and a clear path toward nine, what we're building next is the operating system to scale it — the infrastructure, the processes, the team, the data visibility.

That's where you come in.

The Opportunity

The Head of Operations role is a builder at heart - a strategic partner but also a doer.

You’ll build the operating system this company doesn’t have yet — the targets, the cadence, the accountability, the data visibility. You’ll be the person who turns a founder-dependent business into a process-dependent one.

This is not a sit-back-and-strategize role. Day one, you’re rolling up your sleeves: fixing 3PL issues, building dashboards, setting up a weekly operating rhythm, and hiring the people we need.

Do it well and you earn the COO title through results, not tenure. If you’ve built the operating system of a fast-growing DTC brand before and you want to do it again with real ownership and a big upside — keep reading.

Who this is NOT for
  • If you need everything defined before you start, this isn’t for you. There’s no playbook here. You’re writing it.
  • If you’re a strategist who stays above the work, you won’t last. This role starts in the dirt — 3PLs, inventory, sales tax, hiring. The strategic influence comes after you’ve built something.
  • If you study problems longer than you fix them, this is the wrong role. We need someone who looks at the data, makes a call, and moves.
  • If you need a big team and existing infrastructure to operate, you’ll be frustrated. You’re inheriting a bookkeeper, a CX team, and some 3PL relationships. Everything else, you build.
  • If you want the COO title on day one, look elsewhere. Here you earn it.
What You’re Getting Into The operating system (your #1 job)
  • Build and run the company’s weekly operating rhythm: targets, ownership, accountability, follow-through
  • Create KPIs and dashboards so performance is visible, not guessed at
  • Ensure the founder only weighs in on the big decisions — not every decision
Operations and supply chain
  • Own 3PL management (US + China), fulfillment, inventory, and supply chain
  • Run inventory forecasting across Shopify and Amazon with weekly plan‑vs‑actual reviews
  • Find and fix margin leaks: fulfillment costs, returns, processing, cost per unit
  • Manage expansion logistics: international fulfillment, new warehouse partners
Financial support and coordination
  • Find and hire a fractional CFO or accounting agency — first‑60‑days priority
  • Support the financial model through inventory forecasts, cost data, and coordination with the finance team
  • Work with the fractional CFO to build a financial model with six‑month targets
  • Own sales tax compliance
People and hiring
  • Build the hiring process and run it end‑to‑end
  • Set clear expectations and hold people accountable
  • Build onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Oversee HR, payroll, and contracts
  • Build a CX improvement roadmap within 60 days based on fulfillment times, refunds, and support quality
  • Partner with the founder and Head of Product on operational readiness for new launches
Day 1 Direct Reports
  • HR Specialist
  • Customer Success Manager (+ CX team)
  • 3PLs (US and international)
Who You Are
  • 5–8 years in an operations leadership role (Head of Ops, VP Ops, COO, or GM) at a DTC e‑commerce company ($10M–$250M)
  • You’ve built an operating system from scratch — not inherited one, built one
  • You’re a partner, not just an executor — you push back, challenge ideas, and make decisions
  • You’ve managed 3PLs and have hands‑on inventory management experience
  • You’ve built and led teams of 10+ and made hard calls when necessary
  • You’ve hired multiple roles and can run a hiring process end‑to‑end
  • Strong financial instinct — you can read a P&L, spot margin leaks, and think in unit economics
  • Tech‑savvy and comfortable in the Shopify ecosystem
  • Comfortable in ambiguity — you create clarity from it
Strong preferences
  • You’ve been a key operator…
