Para educator – Pre‑KTo assist school staff within instructional programs, activities, and personal needs of students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide support to students during instruction.
- Implement teacher lesson plans with individuals or small groups of students.
- Work under the direction of the teacher to provide instruction to individuals or small groups.
- Assist with data collection, testing, and student assessment.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEP) and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) for students with special needs based on placement.
- Monitor student behavior and implement behavioral strategies and intervention plans.
- Provide assistance with personal care needs of students, including lifting, transferring, feeding, toileting, and restraint as required.
- Prepare instructional materials for students as directed.
- Assist with school‑wide duties including field trips, school assemblies, class coverage, bus duty, and computer lab support.
- Participate in professional development programs as assigned.
- Work with students via digital platforms to provide support during instruction and assist with data collection, testing, and assessment.
- Perform other work‑related duties as assigned, including in‑person and virtual duties.
- Meet physical requirements of the position, including squatting, kneeling, and lifting/transfer of students up to 40 pounds.
Full‑time, ten‑month position. Salary range based on FY 2025‑2026 HCEA‑ESP Salary Schedule for Para educator Personnel. Starting Salary: $27,918–Maximum Earnings Potential $45,749.

Training and Experience Required- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate of Arts degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
- CDA Certificate (Child Development Associate) with 48 college credits and grade “C” or higher; or
- CDA Certificate with passing score on paraprofessional exam which includes:
- Para Pro score of 455 or higher taken on or before August 31, 2026.
- Para Pathways (5757):
Reading & Writing score 332 or higher AND Mathematics score 334 or higher. - Foundations of Classroom Support (517) score 220 or higher.
- Foundations of Classroom Support and Instruction (519) score 220 or higher.
- Possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to be trained in and perform proper restraint techniques.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Possess specific skills as dictated by the needs of the students (e.g., sign language, ability to lift heavy objects, address medical needs).
