American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active MD or compact RN license and prior travel experience.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit with 22-30 beds and an average daily census of 25
- Adult patients with primary or secondary cardiac diagnoses, primary stroke/TIA, and stable post-cardiac cath patients
- Remote telemetry monitoring via the Hicuity System
- Manages specialty drips including non-titratable Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Protonix, and Lasix
- Uses Zebra portable phones, Alaris IV pumps, and Covidien feeding pumps
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within specialty to lower acuity units as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA only for BLS/ACLS)
- CPI certification required for most units (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Patient ratio experience of 1:5-6
- Charting system experience required (any system)
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Heparin protocols
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols
- Provide telemetry nursing care to cardiac and neurological patients, including CVA cases
- Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for cardiac emergencies
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be considered, unless locals are accepted
- Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested; if more than 4 consecutive days are requested, an additional week must be added to the back end of new contracts
- One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed depending on unit
- Returning travelers must be away from the health system for at least 6 months after completing an assignment
- Former staff must be separated from the health system for 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Most locations allow one contract and one extension before requiring a 6-month break before returning to that facility or unit
