Maintenance Technician – Catholic Care (Diocese of Leeds)
This position is responsible for supporting a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing preventive maintenance, routine and emergency repairs, and assisting with regulatory compliance efforts.
Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician maintains building systems, assists with special projects, and ensures all facility equipment and spaces are safe, clean, and functional. The role supports compliance with healthcare safety standards and promotes resident well‑being.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout facility and equipment.
- Complete structural repairs, including drywall, flooring, windows, doors, and painting.
- Maintain building systems and assist with special projects as needed.
- Keep all areas clean, safe, and in good repair to support a comfortable environment.
- Ensure all equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored and organized.
- Perform routine maintenance on outdoor areas, including parking lots, driveways, and grounds.
- Follow all safety procedures; report hazardous conditions or malfunctioning equipment.
- Assist with fire drills, emergency system checks, and safety inspections.
- Operate within OSHA standards for chemical storage, equipment use, and waste disposal.
- Support regulatory compliance with CMS, state, and local healthcare facility standards.
- Maintain and service facility appliances, resident beds, and non‑clinical medical equipment.
- Follow infection control procedures and handle medical waste and disinfection protocols.
- Prioritize and complete assigned maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and safety equipment to support uninterrupted operations.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations as they arise.
- Complete all tasks within designated time frames.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the ministry.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong collaborative, interpersonal, organizational, multi‑tasking, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co‑workers and leadership.
- Detail‑oriented, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to function in a matrix environment.
- Self‑motivated, dependable, committed, and willing to see projects through to completion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Diagnostic troubleshooting for mechanical systems.
- Ability to operate power tools.
- On‑call availability for emergencies.
