Supervisor - Electric Line Operations

Location:

Belfast, ME
Salary Range: $106,000 - $132,500

Schedule:

On Site - Office

Responsibilities
  • Supervises employees in the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric and/or gas distribution and transmission systems.
  • Plans, directs, and schedules new construction work, preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, and training activities.
  • Ensures work is completed in accordance with construction standards, approved policies, procedures, safety rules, and budgets.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers to solve problems, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Oversees the work of line and gas and/or electric departments, supervising daily field activities of company and contractor crews; resolves customer issues as needed.
  • Provides assistance to Technical Services on new construction and the rebuilding of existing plants; collaborates with PSC and local government agencies.
  • Schedules work for line or street crews; assesses project scope, assigns crews, maintains equipment availability, and ensures material needs are met.
  • Administers damage claims and billing, leak reports, time sheets, store orders, job kitting, work‑order balancing, material review, and compliance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Monitors the accuracy of gas records for auditing purposes and enforces compliance.
  • Oversees the construction office and supports budget management; coordinates department activities with local and state highway officials.
  • Supervises emergency restoration activities.
  • Coordinates safety training, documentation, inspections, and accident investigations; manages labor relations contract administration and communications.
  • Conducts employee evaluations for the annual performance appraisal process.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience (preferred).
  • Associate degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of relevant experience and completion of the relevant progression program.
  • Knowledge of line work and construction, line, gas, and/or electric theory, switching, tagging, labor agreement, safety manual, leak detection methods, procedures, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of industry codes including NEC, NESC, Hazmat, and OSHA.
  • Valid Driver's License; various DOT Operator Qualifications may be required.
  • Results- and customer-service oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-directed work skills with an emphasis on multitasking.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, SAP, and MS Outlook.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Availability for after-hours response to work storms, emergencies, and critical assignments.
