Electrical engineers in Arup play a vital role in ensuring sustainability, efficiency and safety of electrical systems across various building types.
We’re looking for an Electrical Design Engineer at an intermediate level to join our growing building services team. The role involves designing and delivering sustainable, efficient, and innovative electrical systems that enhance the performance and safety of diverse environments. You’ll be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies and detailed design to completion, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop high-quality engineering solutions.
Responsibilities- Support the production of detailed designs and perform calculations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as BS 7671.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute practical, energy‑efficient solutions.
- Explore innovative ways to enhance efficiency through automation and digital transformation, expanding our service offerings through an integrated, digital‑first approach.
- Assist in the transition of candidates from related backgrounds such as power or fire systems engineering into building services.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or an equivalent field; working towards chartership (IET/CIBSE) is desirable.
- Demonstrable background in electrical building services design from first principles, including HV, LV, lighting and controls, fire alarm systems, security & access control, renewable energy electrical design, and earthing across a range of project types.
- Proficiency in BIM environments, especially Revit, and experience with design software packages such as Pro Design, Dialux, SKM, ETAP, or Amtech (Trimble).
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
