VANRATH is working with a prominent vehicle dealership in Northern Ireland on the recruitment of a Workshop Controller to strengthen their service team in Belfast. This is a strong opportunity to take charge of a busy van and light commercial workshop within a well established, high volume operation.

The RoleKey responsibilities include:
- Take day to day responsibility for the smooth running of the depot workshop
- Allocate, plan and execute jobs, taking account of technician capabilities
- Maximise staff utilisation and sold hours, keeping workshop productivity high
- Plan workshop space for maximum efficiency
- Manage holidays and sickness absence to keep adequate cover for scheduled work
- Coach technicians and apprentices to develop their skills, knowledge and capabilities
- Liaise with the training department to keep technicians available for training courses
- Work closely with the parts department to ensure required parts are available on time
- Ensure all vehicles are road tested as required
- Complete quality checks to ensure "right first time" across service, repair and MOT
- Check completed job cards are signed off with accurate and complete information
- Ensure all defects are reported to the customer with quotes provided
- Challenge technicians on efficiency, sold hours, lost time and vehicle cleanliness
- Report any maintenance issues within the workshop
- Ensure all health and safety regulations and procedures are adhered to in line with legal and company requirements
- Ad hoc duties as directed by the Dealerpoint Manager or Directors
- Strong technical knowledge and background in vans and light commercial vehicles is essential
- Strong commercial focus, with a full understanding of the factors affecting technician efficiency and utilisation
- Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively and adapt to changing operational needs
- Full, valid driving licence
