About the RoleSodexo is looking for a Multi-Skilled Building Maintenance Operative to join the technical services team at Sullom Voe Terminal.
The successful candidate will provide first-line building maintenance and operational support across the site. With a recognised trade background in joinery, plumbing or another relevant building trade
, you will carry out reactive and planned maintenance within your area of competence, alongside general building maintenance, material handling, equipment movements and wider site-support duties.
You will work closely with specialist trades including electricians, mechanics and HVAC engineers, helping to resolve routine maintenance issues and allowing specialist teams to focus on more complex repairs and projects.
What You'll Do:- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance, including plumbing, joinery, carpentry, general building repairs and scheduled PPM tasks.
- Respond to Helpdesk requests, maintain accurate work orders and records, and ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Support specialist trades and project teams with routine maintenance, material collection/delivery, equipment movements and general site activities.
- Manage lock suite and locker maintenance, assist with fuel bowser maintenance and breakdowns, and support vehicle/fleet movements where required.
- Support water safety requirements, including the Water Safety Written Scheme and Sodexo's Water Isolation Authority.
- Facilitate contractor access and support contractor visits as required.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe systems of work, Permit to Work requirements and reporting of hazards.
- Effectively manage competing priorities, balancing reactive Helpdesk requests, PPM activities, emergency repairs and contractor requirements.
- City & Guilds, NVQ or SVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery, Plumbing & Heating
, or another relevant building trade, with a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent experience. - Additional qualification or proven competence in a secondary building trade.
- CSCS card or equivalent construction-site competence.
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, Working at Height and ladder safety training.
- Water Hygiene or Legionella Awareness, Permit to Work and Safe Isolation training.
- PASMA and IPAF qualifications.
- First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid qualification.
- Fire Door Inspection or Maintenance Awareness training.
- Full UK driving licence.
- IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and electronic work orders.
- Proven experience in joinery, plumbing and/or general building maintenance
, ideally within a facilities management or multi-disciplinary environment. - Ability to read and understand drawings, technical manuals, schematics and relevant guidance.
- Experience working with safe systems of work and Permit to Work procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and multitasking skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements and maintaining a safe, compliant working environment.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
