Lift Engineer Apprentice

• Location: Motherwell, with travel throughout Scotland
• Hours: 37 hours per week

An established lift engineering company based in Motherwell is looking to recruit a Lift Engineer Apprentice to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone aged 18 or over who has a genuine interest in mechanical engineering and would like to build a long‑term skilled career within the lift industry.

You will work alongside experienced lift engineers, gaining practical, hands‑on experience while working towards an SVQ Level 3 qualification in Lift Engineering
.

The apprenticeship is expected to take approximately four years to complete. However, progression will depend on the individual and their development throughout the programme.

As your experience and skills develop, you will learn about different aspects of lift engineering while supporting experienced engineers on site.

Your duties will include:

• Assisting experienced lift engineers with day‑to‑day work
• Developing practical mechanical engineering skills
• Learning to use tools and equipment safely and correctly
• Following technical and safety instructions
• Working safely on customer and work sites
• Travelling to jobs across Scotland as required
• Gradually taking greater responsibility as your skills and competence develop
• Completing the training and assessments required as part of your apprenticeship

You don't need to be an experienced engineer. We're looking for someone with the right attitude and a genuine interest in learning the trade.

Ideally, you will:

• Be 18 years of age or over
• Have a genuine interest in mechanical engineering and lift engineering
• Be practical and willing to learn
• Be able to listen to and follow instructions carefully
• Have a reliable and responsible approach to work
• Be comfortable working as part of a team
• Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision once appropriately trained and competent
• Be willing and able to travel for work throughout Scotland

A full UK driving licence is preferred due to the nature and location of the work.

Applications will also be considered from candidates who are currently learning to drive and are close to obtaining their full driving licence
