Job Summary:
The plumber will be responsible for the maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems within commercial properties. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail to ensure plumbing systems are operating efficiently, in compliance with all safety standards and regulations. The plumber will be an integral part of maintaining the functionality of various commercial and retail buildings, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Repair:
Maintain and repair plumbing systems in commercial and retail environments, including piping, fixtures, water heaters, pumps, backflow prevention systems, and drainage systems. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues, such as leaks, blockages, and system failures, within commercial and retail properties. Provide solutions to resolve issues quickly with minimal disruption to daily business operations. Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of plumbing systems to ensure reliable performance and avoid costly downtime or emergency repairs. Compliance:
Ensure all plumbing installations and repairs comply with relevant industry and safety standards. Customer Service:
Provide professional, customer-focused service to retail and commercial clients. Communicate effectively with store managers, property owners, and other stakeholders to address plumbing concerns and updates. Worksite Safety:
Follow all safety protocols, including the proper handling of tools and materials, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to company and regulatory safety guidelines. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, service history, and inspection reports. Submit necessary documentation for compliance, warranty claims, or insurance purposes. Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to emergency plumbing calls, particularly in commercial and retail settings, to address issues such as flooding, burst pipes, and system failures that may impact operations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other maintenance staff, project managers, and external contractors to ensure plumbing systems are installed and repaired as part of larger construction or maintenance projects. Project Support:
Assist in larger-scale plumbing projects, such as store renovations, system upgrades, or new construction, ensuring plumbing work is completed on time and according to specifications. Person Specification Qualifications and Experience Essential: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent. Valid Gas Safe Registration (for plumbers working on gas installations). Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, working on residential and/or commercial plumbing systems.
Experience in fault-finding, diagnostics, and repair of plumbing systems. Desirable:
Additional certifications in heating, ventilation, or air conditioning.
Experience with renewable energy systems (e.g., solar water heating). Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to plumbing and heating.
Skills and Abilities
Essential:
Strong technical knowledge of plumbing and heating systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams and building blueprints. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently. Effective time management and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Competent with digital tools and devices used for diagnostics and record-keeping.
