Join our dynamic organisation as a Sustainability Expert, where you will be the driving force behind our organisation's sustainability initiatives and ensure that they are aligned with the company's objectives. In addition, compliance with local and international regulations must be monitored. This person plays an important role in establishing sustainable and responsible business practices that strengthen profitability and corporate reputation within a fast-growing organisation.

Responsibilities

& Key Tasks

The Sustainability Expert will contribute to the design and implementation of sustainability strategies. This person will ensure the effective communication of the sustainability vision and compliance with applicable regulations.

The Sustainability Expert will have a coordinating role and will work with other departments such as HR, operations, environment, marketing and others.

Strategy, governance & compliance

  • Translating sustainability objectives into an integrated and executable sustainability strategy for Ciner Glass Belgium

  • Monitoring full compliance with local, European and international sustainability regulations (CSRD, EU Taxonomy, CSDDD)

  • Coordinating and monitoring external certifications and ratings such as B Corp, Responsible Glass, Eco Vadis and Science Based Targets

  • Identifying sustainability-related risks and opportunities and communicating these clearly and substantiated to senior management

  • Advising management on strategic decisions with an impact on ESG and sustainability

Data, impact & reporting

  • Collecting, structuring and analysing data on energy, water, waste streams and CO₂ emissions

  • Setting up and managing robust processes for data collection and reporting in line with legal requirements and audit standards

  • Reporting transparently on sustainability results through internal reports, presentations and external sustainability reports

  • Substantiating sustainability initiatives with measurable KPIs and impact analyses

Project coordination, collaboration & embedding

  • Translating sustainability ambitions into concrete actions, technical solutions and projects with measurable and impactful results

  • Coordinating and following up on sustainability projects within a new, state-of-the-art production site

  • Working closely with HR, Operations, HSE, Communications and international colleagues within the Ciner Glass Group to embed sustainability across the organisation

  • Training and raising awareness among colleagues about sustainable thinking and best practices

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

You will report to the Corporate Affairs Manager.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG or environmental management, with a strong focus on project management

  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, environmental legislation, energy efficiency, circular economy, sustainable technologies and ESG reporting

  • Experience with sustainability reporting, audits and certification processes is a clear added value.

  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both verbal and written

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the maturity to work in a fast-growing, technically complex environment

  • Motivation to help build a brand-new site where processes and structures are still in full development
