Category Buyer

As a Category Buyer at DEME Group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies for a defined set of commodities within a specific procurement category. You will manage a portfolio of preferred suppliers, ensuring optimal performance, value, and reliability. By applying your market expertise, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver effective and practical procurement solutions. Additionally, you will promote procurement best practices across the organization, contributing to consistent and efficient processes.

This position is primarily based at our headquarters in Zwijndrecht, Belgium.

• Develop and manage a network of reliable and financially stable suppliers.
• Develop category strategy and identify opportunities for optimizing the supply chain process.
• Manage relationships with various internal stakeholders (business units, projects, etc.) and participate in cross functional teams that work on sourcing projects and continuous improvement.
• Manage and guide high value purchases and strive for TCO reductions.
• Ensure internal/external compliance with sourcing procedures and contracts.
• Take the lead in negotiating, drafting and maintaining sourcing contracts, service level agreements, price lists, etc.
• Ensure standards for price competitiveness, product quality, delivery performance, safety and sustainability are met by all suppliers and corrective actions are initiated when needed.
• Perform root cause analysis towards re-occurring supply issues and take the lead in initiating corrective actions towards structural operational issues.
• Report to Category Manager.

• Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration / Applied Economics, Business Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
• Interest and affinity for technical subjects.
• Relevant work experience in a procurement role is a plus.
• Fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch & other languages is an asset.
• Good knowledge of MS Office Excel and Powerpoint, knowledge of other software suits and reporting tools is an asset.
