Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Landscape Site Manager Job (M/F) — La Hulpe | Vert Val
Location: Town of Belgium

Avantages :

La Hulpe, Walloon Brabant — Sites in Brussels, Walloon Brabant and Flemish Brabant

Permanent full-time position
· Salary according to CP 145
· To be filled as soon as possible

Let's be honest: what we're looking for is a
landscape-ninja
. A five-legged sheep who can read a landscape architect's plan, organise a site, manage a team, handle a shovel as well as a spreadsheet, and isn't afraid to end a day with hands full of dirt.

Good news: we know this profile doesn't quite exist. But if you have
80% of what we're looking for and a desire to learn the remaining 20%, we are very eager to meet you.

The position: the bridge between plans and the field

At
Vert Val
(the planning office behind , based in La Hulpe), we design and create high-end residential gardens in Brussels and the two Brabants. Our two landscape architects design — you translate their plans into real gardens.

This position bridges the gap between design and execution. In practical terms, this means:

  • Reading and understanding the plans
for layout, planting, levelling, and networks (drainage, lighting, irrigation).
  • Communicating with the landscape architects
before the site to anticipate technical details, identify points of concern, and propose execution solutions.
  • Organising the site
: planning, material orders, delivery coordination, access, logistics, potential subcontractors.
  • Manage the site team
on a daily basis: briefing, task distribution, quality control, safety.
  • Execute with your hands
: you are not just a simple supervisor in a white shirt. You take the shovel, the trowel, the laser level when needed. Landscape masonry, earthworks, laying terraces, planting — you know how to do it and you show it.
  • Be the link with the client
on site: be the technical face of Vert Val, reassure, explain, adjust.
  • A bit of administration
: site reports, photo tracking, hour validation, feedback to landscape architects. But
no more than one day a week in the office
    — your place is outside.
Why do we talk about a "five-legged sheep"?

Because this position requires
five skills that rarely come together :

The skill

What we really expect

Reading plans Understanding a landscape architect's plan, a grading plan, a planting plan. Identifying inconsistencies before they become a site problem.

Technical site skills Landscape masonry, earthworks, laying terraces (stone, wood, composite), planting, corten steel edging, outdoor lighting, drainage. You do not master everything — you master the essentials and fill in the rest.

Team management Supervise 2 to 4 people on site. No intermediate team leader to delegate — you are the team leader.

Sense of organisation Anticipate orders, manage unforeseen events, keep to a schedule, communicate clearly.

Hands-on You are not afraid to get your hands dirty. You know that you can only supervise well what you have already done yourself.

If you recognise 4 out of 5 facets,
apply
— we will learn the fifth together.

The ideal profile (the honest version)
  • 3 to 5 years of minimum experience in landscaping, ideally with experience in site coordination.
  • Solid technical skills
: you know how to lay a terrace, build a low wall, level a site, read a plan.
  • Ability to supervise
a small field team (2 to 4 people).
  • Good knowledge of plants
: enough to follow a planting plan and correct a mistake if it arises.
  • Driving licence B(this time, yes — for this position, it is necessary).
  • Valid work permit in Belgium
    .

Highly desirable:

  • Training in landscape architecture, landscaping or equivalent (IFAPME, HEPL, Gembloux, horticultural training) — but equivalent field experience is equally valid.
  • Driving licence BE or C (transport of materials, mini-digger).
  • Conversational Dutch or English (useful for certain sites in Flemish Brabant).

What will make the difference:

  • The
    autonomy
: you do not wait for someone to tell you what to do, you anticipate.
  • The
    proactivity
: you see a problem, you propose a solution even before it is asked of you.
  • The
    appreciation for beautiful, well‑finished work
: at Vert Val, the detail makes the difference between a good garden and a great garden.
  • The
    desire to evolve
: this position is intended to grow with the company.
