The MSF Academy for Healthcare is a MSF intersectional initiative that has been created with the aim to increase the quality of healthcare in health care services directed or supported by MSF by strengthening the skills and competencies of healthcare workers through structured, competency-based and recognized or accredited learning programs. The Academy has a growing portfolio of learning programmes addressing specific learning needs and objectives for different categories of healthcare staff in MSF managed or supported healthcare services.
All these projects are chosen in line with overall MSF medical operational priorities.
The MSF Academy for Healthcare primarily supports MSF national staff and, increasingly, Ministry of Health staff in countries with major health workforce gaps. Its focus is on nursing, maternity, and primary healthcare staff through adapted curricula and strong clinical mentorship. Beyond MSF projects, the Academy works with health authorities to support recognition of its programmes and occasionally supports local training schools through scholarships and other assistance.
The Academy has a global team of around 30 staff and country-based teams of about 70, combining management, technical experts, and clinical mentors to support training programmes worldwide. Discover more on MSF Academy for Healthcare.
