The Department of Product Development in the Faculty of Design Sciences in collaboration with the research center imec is looking for a full-time (100%) doctoral scholarship holder in the field of design for modular electronic architectures.
Position- You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis modular electronic architectures. This PhD research investigates modular electronic architectures, with a focus on chiplet-based system design to improve scalability, reuse, and sustainability. The work explores how modular hardware platforms can support adaptable applications such as modular environmental sensing, enabling long-lived, upgradeable, and circular electronic systems for diverse monitoring contexts.
- You will publish scientific articles related to the research project.
- You will carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for technology driven design in product development.
- You hold a Master degree in Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Product Development.
- Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
- Strong interest in digital electronics (PCB, IC), system architecture, and/or semiconductor technologies in the context of smart products.
- We offer a doctoral scholarship for an initial period of one year. Following a positive evaluation, the scholarship can be renewed for another three years.
- The planned start date is 1/03/2026 or as soon as possible after that date.
- Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders.
- You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
- As a doctoral researcher, you will have access to a wide and varied range of courses and an educational credit through the Antwerp Doctoral School.
- You will do most of your work at City Campus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
