Within the Connectivity Pathfinding (COP) department in imec, we are seeking a skilled and ambitious professional to lead one of the pathfinding integration teams composed of senior and junior engineers.

What you will do

The teamis responsible forthetranslation ofearly‑stage device and system concepts intofeasibleintegration flows, working closely with device,process development, design, and characterizationteamsacrossimec. Together with the team, your mission is to enable innovative integration solutions in silicon photonics, advanced RF technologies,heterogenous integration of novelmaterialsand exploratory technology demonstrators. Youwill guideyour team through complex technical challenges,ensuring high technical quality and alignment with imec technology roadmaps.

  • Youprovidetechnical guidance to the teamtoovercometechnical and operational bottlenecks and ensure seamless collaboration with therelevantstakeholders.
  • You assign team members to tasks requested by project/program managersconsideringscope,complexityandcompetencies.
  • You oversee the projectscarried out by the team,followprogress,identify risks early, and adjust where needed.
  • You implement andmonitorthe HR processes in the team(e.g., setting goals, coaching,evaluation).
  • You createa strong team atmosphere and foster opportunities for knowledge sharing and cross‑learning.
  • You interact closely with your peers, internal and external (project and program managers), and withother groupsacross imec.
  • You communicate statusand issues to your peers, internal customers, and the leadership team at imec.
  • You will represent

    COP pathfinding integration in customer interactions, technical reviews, and selected external collaborations relevant to your field of competence.
  • You have obtained aMaster’sdegree (or PhD, preferred) in electrical engineering, photonics, applied physics, material science, or a related field.
  • You have strong background/experience in semiconductorprocessingandintegration (7+ years preferred); experience in silicon photonics and/or RF integration is a significant advantage.
  • You enjoy leading a team with strong technical knowledge, clear goals, and structured work planning.
  • You are a communicative people manager, able to motivate your team to reach challenging milestones in a fastmoving R&D environment.
  • You have excellent communication and reporting skillsto interface withinnal and external stakeholders.
  • You have strong organizational skills and show the flexibility toswitchbetweenmultipleprojects according to changing priorities.
  • Prior experience in coordinating efforts across multidisciplinary teams is a strong plus.
  • You like takinginitiative,you are persuasive and assertive, whilemaintaininga collaborative andconstructive attitude.
  • You show proven problem-solving skills and have a pro‑active attitude.
  • Given the international character of imec, a fluent knowledge of English is necessary.
