Description of Role:
Automation Software Engineer
We are seeking an Automation Software Engineer to join our Global Engineering Hub in India to produce and commission automation projects for our equipment in the pharmaceutical industry. The scope of this position covers all aspects of control systems engineering from requirement specification through design, test and commissioning and will likely involve some travel overseas.
The role will be working as part of a team based in the GEA Vadodara office to deliver control systems to support the GEA Belgium Projects group and to also provide global support to other GEA Pharma Systems companies as required. This role involves working in an ISO 9001 quality environment and complying with industry expectations for documentation and quality expectations.
Responsibilities- Developing Siemens PLC and HMI Software like WinCC Explorer – advance and professional, TIA portal V12 up to V20.
- Develop PLC Programming and coding SCL language and in Ladder with Boolean functions.
- Develop / Modify VB Scripting for functions and customization in PLC coding.
- Develop / Modify SQL Scripting in WinCC for database management and execution.
- Develop reporting functions in Visual Studio.
- Independently develop and test the PLC and HMI software on machines. Expertise level should be more than 80%.
- Should have good capability to read and understand VB & SQL scripting which are already developed as standards.
- Knowledge of 21 CFR part 11, ISA 88 and GAMP5 standards.
- Understand and review P&.
- Develop and review Functional design specifications.
- Should have knowledge of VFDs, like Danfoss, ABB etc. & Control panel electrical design.
- Workshop coordination during machine assembly, and machine testing at workshop once machine is ready at workshop, also workshop coordination during dispatch of machine.
- Ready to go to site for commissioning of pharma machines and can independently perform machine Operational qualification in front of customer. Traveling should not be concern.

- Resolve the technical issues if any.
- Preferably from Pharmaceutical Background.
- Knowledge of Field Instruments & Controls for better understanding.
- Should be able to make Software design specifications & Software Integration Test Plans.
- Should have hands‑on experience in Designing the Software from Scratch.
- Understanding customer experiences to be able to reflect customer expectations in our standards, processes, and tools.
- Should be able to understand process flow like, Raw material handling, Input, Preparation Unit, Processing Unit, Product Collection, Diverting functions in continuous process machinery.
- Knowledge of C++ & C Sharp will be an added advantage.
- Engineering Graduate (Electrical, Instrumentation & Control/Electronics/ Electronics & Communication/Mechatronics Engineering)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as Automation and controls engineer.
- Willing to travel on international assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal & communications skills.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments.
- Creative & Initiative skills for value addition.
- Should possess good interpersonal skills and work well in a team as well as independently.
- Positive attitude & willing to accept challenge.
