Provide first-line response to all building services infrastructure and elevate to third-party specialist contractors where specialist knowledge and skills are required. Responsible for the successful completion of planned and reactive maintenance on the building services infrastructure.
The Lead Engineer is responsible for people management of the Site Engineers.
Internal stakeholder contacts are mainly with Technical Ops Planning and Security Services. External contact with suppliers and customers.
Is the HV Authorized Person (HV Approved Person
-AP) and takes a significant role with switching (and its associated planning)
- Provide support to Data Center and Site Management teams, including communication assistance, technical information provision, and holiday/sickness coverage coordination
- Coordinate plant start-ups and shutdowns after major maintenance activities or post-repair.
- Ensure the Site team is monitoring the BMS and provide appropriate responses upon alarm activations.
- Coordinate and oversee on-site staffing resources on a daily basis to ensure effective communication between teams.
- Provide technical support to uphold safe and efficient operations in accordance with industry best practices and relevant country compliance standards as outlined in company policy, conducting audits and checks as necessary
- Actively engage in day-to-day operations involving financial systems like Yardi, facilitating the procurement process, and overseeing follow-ups for repairs and remedial works.
- Proactively monitor and look to improve the operation of building systems to ensure optimum performance with a clear focus on energy efficiency and continuous improvement.
- 3-5 years’ experience working in mission‑critical mechanical & electrical environments within a large company, IT/Telecoms industry preferred.
- Experience in data centers or a similar environment is essential.
- Knowledge of key infrastructure components of DCs (like UPS’s, Generators, and Cooling systems)
- Recognized formal electrical training (City and Guilds etc.).
- Experience and Knowledge of the Operation of Critical Building infrastructure (Electrical, Mechanical, and Building Fabric)
- AP15 course and experience as an HV Authorized Person
- Ability to read and preferably work with Electrical and Mechanical diagrams.
- Decision maker, good decision‑making skills based on analysis of risk situations.
- Act as a mentor to the site engineering team
- Breaks down problems into smaller components, can understand underlying issues, simplify, and processes complex issues, and understands the difference between critical details and unimportant information.
