Program / Project Manager, Operations Manager
Location: Town of Belgium
As a Project Manager - New Builds you are responsible for the end-to-end delivery of large and complex investment projects, ranging from new vessel builds to major equipment and conversion projects. You take ownership from early concept development through to final delivery and integration into the fleet. Operating at the intersection of technical, financial, and operational domains, you ensure that projects are executed safely, within budget, on schedule, and in line with performance expectations.
You act as the central point of coordination across multiple stakeholders, translating business needs into robust technical solutions and driving projects towards successful completion.
- Lead the full lifecycle of new build and investment projects, from concept definition and feasibility to execution, commissioning, and operational handover.
- Define, monitor, and steer project scope, budget, and planning, ensuring alignment with agreed objectives and proactively managing deviations.
- Ensure that technical performance requirements are met by working closely with engineering teams and validating key design and execution decisions.
- Take ownership of budget follow-up, identifying cost drivers and implementing mitigation measures where needed.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, applying critical path analysis and actively managing risks and contingencies.
- Coordinate and align a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, acting as the central point of contact.
- Lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring the right expertise is mobilized throughout the different project phases.
- Provide structured reporting towards Business Units and senior stakeholders, clearly communicating progress, risks, and proposed solutions.
- Participate in stage gate reviews and support decision-making processes by delivering high-quality project insights.
- Ensure a strong presence on site during execution phases, regularly visiting shipyards and adapting involvement based on project needs and local team strength.
- Hold a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Have at least 6 years of relevant experience in advanced project management within complex technical environments (e.g., maritime, offshore, or construction sector) and a total of minimum 15 years of working experience.
- Combine analytical thinking with a hands‑on approach and be able to manage complexity across multiple disciplines.
- Be experienced in budget management, planning, and risk assessment within large-scale projects.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams.
- Be a natural leader, capable of driving projects forward and taking ownership in a dynamic and demanding environment.
- Be willing to travel regularly to project sites and shipyards worldwide and/or be present on site full‑time for a certain amount of months (depending on project and execution scope).
