Strategic Office Context

To contribute to the goal of maintaining a sound system of financial internal controls ensuring effective and efficient use of resources and safeguarding UNICEF assets through accurate and timely financial reporting to external and internal stakeholders.

The purpose of the Finance Officer role is to support the maintenance of robust financial internal controls, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources and safeguarding UNICEF assets through accurate and timely financial reporting to external and internal stakeholders.

• Education
  :
  Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Finance, Accounting, Business, and any other related fields.
• Work Experience
  : 2 years of relevant work experience in Accounting and Auditing, Financial Analysis and Monitoring, Financial Auditing and any other related fields.
• Skills
  :
  Advanced proficiency in Excel, data analytics, attention to detail and ability to translate data into business language, interpret trends and identify risk areas are required.
• Language Requirements
  :
  Fluency in English is required.

• Language
  :
  Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
• Qualified accountant (accredited membership of CA, CPA or equivalent) or currently completing professional accounting qualification plus recent experience with the functions described in the job description.
• Experience in applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Relevant experience in the Non‑Profit Sector, NGO experience or UN system.
• Experience working with enterprise resource management systems for financial processing and reporting (e.g. SAP ECC or S/4 HANA).
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
