Inteliphage has an exciting opportunity for a Lab Technician (Process Development) in Ottignies-Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium, to support the development and optimization of its phage production processes.
This role is ideal for candidates with hands‑on experience in microbiology, bioprocessing, Downstream Processing (DSP), and Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) who want to contribute to innovative phage manufacturing technologies.
As a lab technician, support both Upstream Processing (USP) and Downstream Processing (DSP) activities related to phage production using bacterial hosts. He/She will work closely with the Technical Operations Manager and a team of Phage Specialists to design, execute, and follow up on process development activities. The role combines practical laboratory work with strict adherence to quality, safety, and documentation standards.
- Prepare and manage media, buffers, and reagents for microbiological and bioprocess testing
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and quality documentation
- Perform preventive maintenance, sterilization, and waste management
- Manage laboratory inventory and report supply needs
- Perform USP tasks such as bacterial culture preparation and phage amplification
- Execute DSP operations including clarification, centrifugation, filtration, purification, and concentration
- Operate Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) systems for phage concentration and diafiltration (mandatory experience)
- Prepare samples involving phages, pathogens, and indicator organisms
- Apply strict aseptic techniques in all laboratory procedures
- Accurately document experimental procedures and results
- Follow company policies and standard operating procedures
- Communicate clearly with team members and support project timelines
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field
- Minimum two years of laboratory experience in microbiology or bioprocessing
- Hands‑on experience in Downstream Processing (DSP)
- Mandatory experience with Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
- Strong knowledge of microbiology laboratory practices
- Knowledge of bacteriophages and phage‑based production processes
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
