The Data Governance Consultant is responsible for translating the data governance strategy into a structured and operational framework. This role ensures that governance principles are effectively implemented, accepted and embedded throughout the organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Conducting governance framework workshops with stakeholders from business and IT.
- Designing the operating model: roles, processes, cadence, escalation and KPIs.
- Drafting governance policies and supervising them until stakeholder sign-off.
- Building a practical Data Governance Playbook.
- Drive catalog tool selection: requirements, scoring, demos, TCO and recommendation.
- Oversee the implementation of the catalog, in line with the governance design.
- Act as primary governance advisor to sponsor and steering committee.
- Several years of experience in designing and deploying data governance programs.
- Hands-on experience with one or multiple catalog platforms (Purview,Datahub,Oval Edge,Collibra,Alation,Atlan).
- Experience with catalog tool selection or RFP processes is a strong plus.
- Track record of delivered frameworks, policies and playbooks in an enterprise context.
- In-depth knowledge in establishing data governance frameworks.
- Proven skills in workshop facilitation and stakeholder management.
- Comfortable in delivering frameworks, playbooks, RACIs and policy documents.
- Able to translate governance concepts into concrete operational KPIs.
- Strategic and pragmatic: translates vision into operational reality.
- Advisory and persuasive in the role of trusted advisor for sponsor and steering committee.
- Natural facilitator in workshops with diverse profiles.
- Structured and consistent in implementing governance principles.
- Persistent in obtaining stakeholder sign-off on policies and decisions.
