MS Power BI Operations, Develop & Training; NS - MON Relaunch

The NATO Business Application Centre (NBAC) is looking for a Power BI Specialist to provide technical, architectural and operational support for Power BI services across NATO networks.

• Configure, tune and optimize Power BI Server (on‑premises and SaaS) to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Deliver Level 2/3 support, including monitoring of backups, logs, performance tuning and incident, problem, change and service‑request management following ITIL and NATO service‑operation protocols.
• Perform planned patching, upgrades and configuration for the Power BI instance in line with internal release authorisation and security standards.
• Coordinate cross‑service infrastructure teams and provide on‑call support during critical periods.
• Design and deliver four interactive Power BI dashboards, including migration of an existing dashboard from another platform, and provide user‑friendly data modelling and visualisation.
• Contribute to documentation of BI architecture, data modelling, coding guidelines, standard operating procedures and security group configurations.
• Deliver knowledge‑transfer and end‑user training sessions (remote and in‑person) and ensure independent execution of platform administration by NBAC staff.
• Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation of platform administration, operational processes, and support procedures.

• Valid NATO SECRET security clearance.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a consultant on large‑scale business application implementations.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Power BI Report Server (on‑premises) and Power BI Service (cloud), including configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data modelling, DAX and dashboard/report development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with MS SQL Server 2014 or higher, including complex SQL queries and ETL processes.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in normalised/denormalised data models, star/snowflake schemas.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Level 2 and Level 3 support within ITIL‑based environments.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Agile environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and process‑oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, and to produce technical documentation.
• Full professional proficiency in English (minimum C1).

• Experience configuring Power BI Server with claims‑based ADFS authentication.
• Knowledge of Oracle databases.
• Knowledge of KNIME Analytics Platform.
• Experience in developing in Java.
• Prior experience in an international environment that includes both military and civilian elements.
• Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organisational structures.

• Secondary: NCIA Mons (SHAPE), Belgium.
• Remote: 50 % on‑site, 50 % remote;
  Full‑time on‑site not required.

• Required NATO SECRET clearance from the start of the contract.
