DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

Your passion is data and analytics. You want to create value for our clients by uncovering, organizing, and making sense of data. You understand that it is important to build robust solutions. You feel comfortable operating in the sweet spot between business and engineering.

WHAT YOU WILL DO TO MAKE ORGANIZATIONS DATA-DRIVEN

The Analytics Engineer is the bridge between business and analytics. You understand what data can bring to the organization. With your effective communication skills, you help uncover business needs and how to support them with data, reporting, and visualization. You use software engineering best practices to write production-grade data pipelines, making high-quality data available for creating business value with analytics. You leverage modern tooling to model, test, and document data.

Your efforts enable data democratization by improving the reliability and accessibility of data products. As an Analytics Engineer, you play a vital role in empowering end users to make data-driven decisions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Within the Analytics Engineering team, we are looking for like-minded people that we would like to work with. We are not looking for a specific type of professional. We all come from very different cultural and educational backgrounds. We love this diversity, and we built an inclusive culture around it. We do not judge, instead, we care about and support each other.

We share a genuine curiosity about what we do, and together we get better at it every day. We look for people with this mindset before anything else. The Analytics Engineer is part of the central data platform team and reports to the Data Platform Lead. The Analytics Engineer works closely with the Data Engineers, the Data Governance Specialist, and the Data Stewards from the domains.

During the Foundation and Operationalization phases, the Analytics Engineer temporarily fulfills the steward role for departments that do not yet have their own Data Steward.

Responsibilities and tasks
  • Designing and building data transformations that convert raw data from the platform into semantic datasets and data products
  • Developing reports, dashboards, and analytical datasets in collaboration with Data Stewards and business users
  • Translating content-related questions from the business into technical data products in collaboration with the Data Steward of the relevant domain
  • Contributing to the business glossary in Microsoft Purview, particularly regarding the definitions resulting from transformations
  • Documenting datasets and data products in a manner accessible to business users
  • Performing acceptance tests on data deliveries together with the Data Owner and requester
  • Contributing to data quality incidents as described in process 3 of the TOM, particularly regarding reports arising from transformations or data products
  • Participating in the agile working method of the team
  • Contribute to code reviews and quality assurance of the work of fellow engineers
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As an Analytics Engineer, you are the one who converts raw data into something the business can actually work with. You will work in a team of five data specialists and maintain continuous contact with colleagues from the business to understand their information needs and translate them into concrete data products.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

  • Contributing ideas regarding architectural coherence and identifying technical debt
  • Designing and building data transformations that convert raw data into usable datasets and reports
  • Translating business requirements into technical data products in collaboration with the Data Stewards from the domains
  • Building reports and analytical datasets that assist in operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Temporarily fulfilling a steward role for departments that have not yet appointed their own Data Steward, acting as the bridge between that department and the data platform
  • Documenting what you build in a way that is understandable to both fellow engineers and business users
  • Working in an agile team where shared quality and delivery come first
THIS IS YOUR DREAM JOB IF…
  • You love creating value by solving various problems with data, in the most sustainable and robust way.
  • You are trained as a data analyst, scientist, or engineer but have a deep interest in data modeling and software engineering best practices.
  • You are a jack-of-all-trades, who wants to become a true authority in the field by learning new skills and trying out the latest data tools.
  • You have excellent communication skills, are interested in learning about the whole data cycle, can write efficient SQL queries, have hands‑on experience with Python, Dbt, and cloud platforms, and you stand out for your expertise in one or more areas of analytics engineering.
  • You like staying on projects long‑term.
  • Fluent command of Flemish and English.
THIS IS NOT YOUR DREAM JOB IF…
  • You always take the academic approach to data and analytics and find it hard to be…
