Project Manager - Breeding

As Project Manager within our Breeding Operations & Product Innovation business area, you will play a key role in driving performance, fostering collaboration, and supporting strategic transformation across key breeding initiatives. • You lead the end-to-end development of new regions for seed production.
• This includes the project design, operational realization, analysis and decision making of the testing and validation in new regions, impact assessment on existing production areas, and the operational implementation plan for the transition between both.

• You identify potential regions based on agronomic, climatic, logistical, regulatory and certification criteria, focused on centralization around existing sites. You assess the operational feasibility, isolation capacity, local agricultural network
  and certification regulations.
• You build a trust-worthy network of farmers to act as third-party service providers for multiplication land and/or operational activities. You conduct capability assessments and negotiate collaboration agreements.
• You ensure full adherence to local agricultural regulations, seed certification standards, environmental rules, and safety requirements. You navigate regional legislation concerning seed production, land use, and contracted farming.
• You prepare, plan and execute the deployment of machinery, the operational organization of local teams and/or third party services, infrastructure and storage needs.
• You monitor risks, implement mitigation strategies, and escalate issues appropriately.
• You collect and interpret results, decide based on agreed validation criteria and adjust the project plan accordingly.
• You manage complexity in environments with varying levels of agricultural maturity, infrastructure, and local regulatory complexity, while ensuring compliance with certification, safety, and operational standards.
• You balance speed and quality while delivering within strict financial and purity thresholds.
• You act as both a hands-on project driver and an operational manager within the Breeding Operations Platform.

• You have extensive project management expertise and a demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects under strict constraints.
• You preferably have experience in agricultural, seed production, or related operational environments. Solid understanding of regulatory, safety, and quality requirements in agricultural production is required.
• You have excellent negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• You’re structured, reliable, and organized with a solution-oriented mindset.
• You’re able to work autonomously, make data-driven decisions, and drive execution in ambiguous environments.
• You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in multicultural research environments.
• You’re fluent in English (required); knowledge of French or Dutch is an additional asset.
